Going Green

While this care package isn't quite eco-friendly it is green. Here is another package I'm sending this week to my brother-in-law out on a mission. He is a brand new missionary and there's a tradition of calling the new ones "greenies" so I'm sending him a green package. I spray painted the inside of the box green and then threw in plenty of snacks, candy, some Irish Spring soap, a toothbrush, some post-it notes, a green slinky, and a small green picture album with pictures from his last few weeks in town.
I threw this on the top when I packaged it so he'll see it when he opens the box.
If you could get a colored package what color would you want? I'd want purple. Wouldn't that be fun?

  1. love it! i'm so doing this! JJ (kevin's friend) leaves the MTC in about 2 weeks and I've been trying to think of a fun package. This will totally make him smile and shake his head (because he kind of thinks I'm crazy)!

  2. I did the same thing this past month for my son who is a "greenie" as well! Isn't it fun?! I have plans to send a different "themed" box each month on the 8th (the day he entered the MTC) this month in the spirit of "back to school" I sent a box full of "school supplies" so to speak. I painted the box with black spray paint and used white paint to make it look like a chalk board, sealed it with yellow duct tape with ruler lines on it... It is fun, and keeps me going all month trying to come up with fun things to put in the box! I already have October and November's all planned out as well.

  3. Just be careful that the soap doesn't make all the food items taste soapy. Also, the spray paint can leave a smell or taste as well.
