I actually got to break out my new sewing machine and use it for the first time. I bought a Huskystar C10 right after Christmas courtesy of my boss, my grandma and my husband. I wanted to make some things for the baby coming but never got around to it. I took the class on my machine in February and then had a baby in April and haven't touched the thing since.
I bought this fabric to make a rag quilt for a friend having a baby a year ago. Then I found out I was pregnant and I was sick as a dog so the fabric went into the closet and she got a baby gift from her registry. I pulled out the fabric and my machine a couple of months ago and decided to make the quilt for her little girl's first birthday.
This was the first rag quilt I've done. It was more work than I thought it would be (I thought it would be less than a regular quilt) but I love the way it turned out. I'd like to make one for myself now. I got the inspiration and several tips along the way from my friend, Heather. She made this very cute one for my baby boy. It's my favorite blanket for him. She actually just bought coordinating receiving blankets and cut them up for the front. What a great idea! Thanks again! :)
Here is the one I just finished for my friend, Shannon. I bought fabric by the yard for mine but would probably use Heather's idea to use receiving blankets in the future.
I love this one as well!!! Perfect boy colors!
ReplyDeleteUmmm...I love quilts! If you are ever totally bored, and want to make another one...I'd pay you generously :) You do beautiful work!

Okay...Ever since I browsed this other blog of yours, I've had that Rag Quilt stuck in my head. I know you probably have very little spare time with a baby and one the way. If you ever get free time (one of these days), I would seriously pay you to make me one.
